Project in collaboration between Renata, Gold Museum, Los Andes University, National University of Colombia, and UofA
The Gold Museum in Bogota Colombia has a large collection of precious precolombian gold artifacts that needed to be digitized and made available to the general public in the museum setting using virtual exhibits and on the web. Digitizing in 3D gold artifacts is quite a challenge as most 3D scanner rely on light to capture the 3D shape. In order to solve this problem, we developed a multi-spectral approach that solves some of the shortfall of many commercial scanner. In addition to digitizing artifacts, we also developed multi-modal technologies to allow visitors to touch, hear, and see the virtual replicas.
